Welcome to Celtic Tri  

Celtic Tri Off-Road Duathlon, 2nd November 2008

The race will be held in Margam Country Park and surrounding forest just off J38 of the M4 at Port Talbot. Parking as you enter the park and follow the road into the park which leads directly to transition area. Registration will be held in the castle and will be clearly signposted.

The run will be on grass and compact trails in a single 5km loop around the park.

The bike begins with a climb up Cwm Philip valley on mountain firetrack roads and once at the top comprises a single lap rolling course of the mountain top offering spectacular views of Somerset, Gower peninsular and Brecon Beacons before the exhilarating decent back to transition.The initial 5km run is repeated with the finish in front of Margam Castle

There will be two starts, one for individuals and the other for teams to give less experienced athletes the chance to sample multisport at its best.

Entries are £20.00 for BTF members and £24.00 for BTF teams.
£24.00 for non BTF entries and £30.00 for non BTF teams.

There are toilets and cafeteria immediately adjacent to transition as well as play areas to keep the kids entertained.

Route maps will be issued once confirmed with the forestry commission.

Celtic Junior Tri athletes represent Wales

Well done to our young athletes who represented Wales at the Inter Regional Championships held in Aldershot. They were up against the best young athletes in Britain and did us proud with some excellent performances in their respective categories. All our athletes will be training hard to qualify for next years race as it will be held at Bryn Bach Parc, Tredegar.

Due to increases in pool hire and to maintain the amount of sessions available there will be increase in swimming fees. The prices for both Adult and Juniors will raise by 50 pence per session.

Thursday evening swim at Swansea pool

There is a shortfall of coaches within Celtic tri to cover all swim sessions. The Swinsea swim session on Thursday evening will continue but on times there will not be a poolside coach. However session plans will be provided and subs will be taken by a senior member of the club.

Due to a swimming gala there will be no swimming at Neath Pool on Saturday 21st June.

Celtic Tri Club Championships

There has been a number of alterations to the club championships regarding races. The Celtic Trial Triathlon on 1st June has been added instead of Llanelli Sprint Triathlon and Brecon Triathlon on 14th June as been added instead of Aberdare triathlon. With such a busy race calender in June it can mean only one thing. A good night for your partner if you make it to July. Happy racing!

Celtic Trial Triathlon

Celtic Junior tri will be holding their anuual general meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesady 23rd April 2008, at Cwrt Herbert Playing fields. Any members who wish to nominate candidates or required any further information, please contact Andy Bartlett.


Celtic Tri Organised Races 2008

Celtic Tri are organising a number races this year. Aprt from the well established Aberavon Beach Aquathlon there will be a standard distance triathlon based at the boating lake at Margam. Celtic Tri Presentation Evening 2008

Celtic tri presentation evening was again another success with many athletes receiving awards for their hard work throughout the year. Well done to exeryone who made the evening such a success.

Celtic Tri Club Championships

The Club Championship races have now been published on the 'events' page and will predominately follow the Welsh Chamionship races. The Championships will consist of seven races (one to be confirmed) with the athletes best five results scoring. More information is provided on the events page.


Neath Port Talbot Sports Awards Evening

At the recent Neath Port Talbot Sports Awards Evening, Celtic Tri were fortunate to have two nominations this year. In the club nomination we were narrowly pipped by Tonmawr RFC. However we did mange to bring back some silverware in the form of Jack Newton who was awarded the Young Sports Personality of the Year. Well done Jack


Celtic Tri Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of celtic tri will be held at 6pm on Saturday 9th February at The Barn (pub and restaurant) Morriston. The posts of Chairman, Treasurer, Welfare Officer and Secretary are up for election. All present officers are standing for re-election. If there are any other nominations for these positions then they must be sent to the secretary by the end of January 2008.

Bike Maintenance Course

There will be a Nutrition talk and bike maintenance course held at The Barn, Morriston 2pm on Saturday 9th February. This will precede the AGM and will last for approx 2/3 hours. This will be open to all members and will consist of basic bike maintenance to get you home if you should break down on the side of the road. The cost will be £5 each donated to club funds. And then at 5pm a nutrition talk by Peter Slijkhuis, M.S.c from SIS (science in sport).
